is an excellent camera. That's a dime underneath it. We have
tested a lot of cameras over the years. This is one of the best
color cmos that we have seen. It is less than half the size of
most cmos but has better resolution and shutter speed. We special
ordered this camera "unfinished". This means the casing
and epoxy resin are left out. This results in the smallest and
lightest camera. It also gives access to the circuit board on the
rear of the camera. You will be able to solder your own wires or
connector if you wish. The 5 volt regulator is on the back of the
camera. It can be bypassed or replaced with a LDO. If you don't
know what this means don't worry. You don't need to have a
technical background to use this camera. It is ready to use out of
the box. Keep in mind any modification to the camera or cable will
void the warranty.
Most cmos cameras are rated at 380
lines of resolution but when compared side-by-side you can see
obvious differences. This is because the cmos chip manufacturers
(not camera manufacturers) produce the chips at 380 lines. It is
up to the camera manufacturers to use the recommended external
components to achieve this resolution. Most of them don't, they
use the least amount of components to make the chip work. This
camera has a low component count but still produces an very good
image. It also has a faster shutter speed than earlier versions.
About four times faster. This means the camera can transition from
different lighting conditions better.
